Grange Tower Bridge Hotel, London

We booked our room via LastMinute.com (Luxury Hotel near Tower Bridge) for a reasonable price.

On arrival we were asked for I.D (never had to do this in a hotel before) and also asked if we wanted to put down a payment for any services which we did (£50).

We were given a room on the sixth floor and for some reason the stairs were blocked by some barriers off so we had to use the lift which was quite small and took a while to arrive.

The room was really nice, a good size with two double beds – obviously we only used one of them!

The bathroom was really good too and the shower was amazing!

The view wasn’t great but this wasn’t really a problem as knowing we’d booked it through lastminute.com we wouldn’t get to choose what view, etc we would’ve liked – however you could see the top of The Shard 🙂

The room had a fridge but this couldn’t be used to store anything due to some kind of computerised automatically charging system – slightly annoying!

When we ordered a bottle of Champagne we assumed that it would automatically come out of our £50 payment that we made when we checked in but the guy that came to our room asked us to pay on receipt – we questioned this and they told us that it could be added to our room – also, they was a £4 “delivery charge” for room service, something I’ve never seen before.

The room was quiet even though there was a main road on our side of the hotel and the bed was extremely comfortable.

We decided not to have breakfast in the hotel because it was not included in the price of our stay but also it would have cost us £30, we went to the Wetherspoons across the road and had EXACTLY the same breakfast offered at the hotel plus a large coffees for £12!

Wetherspoons Breakfast at a fraction of the cost of the same breakfast at the hotel!

All in all it was a nice hotel but overpriced – but within walking distance of Tower Bridge and surroundings.

Score : 3 out of 5
