PTLLS+ – The Bane of My Life

So, back in October time I was sent on a course called PTLLS+ (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector), I thought it was going to be a nice little course on which we learn the basics of how to teach… I was wrong!

I should have finished the course back in December but because I had to have a knee operation right in the middle of it, I didn’t – which was a good thing!

I’ve never been one to be able to concentrate on something academic unless I actually find the subject enjoyable, for example, when I was at school everybody got to choose what they wanted to do study in years 10 and 11 but because I was out of school at the time (Long Story Involving 5 years of Bullying) I didn’t get this choice, so I was left with the most boring, most snoreworthy subjects (IMHO) ever – Economics, History, Graphic Technology and German – plus the usual suspects of Science, I.T, French, Maths.

I spent the next 2 years hating ever lesson I had to take, trust me I tried to like the subjects, I really did but I just didn’t give a shit about Supply and Demand or Hitler and Stalin, and the teachers I had were really uninspiring old farts. My history teacher Mr Wilson used to pick on me in classes in front of everyone, I hated him, I didn’t understand why he thought it apt to single me out in a big class of people that though it was funny to mock others. My economics teacher I can’t even remember his name but he used to jump on tables during lessons (SERIOUSLY!). My Graphic Technology teacher was my old art teacher from year 7, a miserable cow on a good day and a total battleaxe on a bad day, and most days she was a battleaxe!

Anyway, that was a bit of a tangent – back to talking about PTLLS+ (which I’m now taking a break from before my head explodes)

My tutor sent me a quite bitchy email earlier when I asked her for a deadline extension, and in a way I can see why but I just didn’t think that it was very professional – maybe I’ll complain – but I did get a week’s grace to try and finish it, which I’m hoping will be enough – because although I know it’s got to be done, I will not sacrifice long periods of time away from my boyfriend, Tom.

So I will knuckle down and get it done, I have a fair bit to do still, I don’t think it’s going to be anything of A* quality but at least I did it and can forget about it!

I think I’m done with PTLLS+ for tonight, I need a huge cup of tea, maybe a round of toast and either something on BBC iPlayer to watch or a good read of my new book.
