Time Travel

From an early age I have always been fascinated in time travel, I used to have a cabin bed (bit like this one) and I used to get inside the cupboard and pretend that I was travelling back in time, this was way before I even knew about Doctor Who but my cabin bed was my own T.A.R.D.I.S.

I used to be fascinated with the film The Time Machine and used to draw so many pictures of what my own personal time machine would look like, I also made up these things called time crystals which would allow people to use them once to jump to different times – I think I based the idea for time crystals on the one that was on the lever in the movie (see here).

I became obsessed with the Back To The Future movies as well, especially the second film, the ideas of crossing time streams and changing the future absolutely blew my mind – and to this day is still my favourite movie of all time!

Years ago, on the original Playstation, a user-created game called Timeslip was put on a demo disc and it was such a simple game but it was based on time travel and I was hooked, well I was until I reached a certain level and realised that the game was unfinished – it was based around a time travelling snail and you would have to work with the previous actions of yourself in order to get through the game – I loved playing it!

I think that’s why I LOVE Doctor Who, it ticks all of my time travel boxes and is so incredibly well written that I’m a fan for life, I’m really excited about the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who – can’t believe that there’s been an official trailer shown at the SDCC but not available to see online yet, all in good time I suppose!

On the subject of time travel I have a few questions to ask you

  1. If you could travel in time, where would you go to?
  2. Can you recommend any time travel related films or tv shows that I might have missed?
  3. If you met a past version of yourself, would you tell it anything about it’s future?
